St Machar Credit Union is working in partnership with the prepaid card provider ENGAGE.
This means the credit union can offer members a prepaid card which has VISA DEBIT card facilities which include sort code and account number, money can can be paid in by cash at Paypoint outlets, employers can pay wages direct into the card and Department of Work and Pensions Benefits can also be paid direct to the card.
Standing order payments can be made, online purchases can be made, chip and pin facilities for purchases within shops, and ATM withdrawal services are available.

When will my card arrive?
Your card will arrive by post to the address that you gave in your application and should be with you within ten working days. If your card hasn’t arrived after ten days, please call 0844 412 1717.

How do I activate my card?
The letter that the card is attached to contains instructions on how to activate the card. You can activate your card either:

  • Online: log in to your account, go to ‘my cards’ and click the activate button
  • By calling 0844 412 1717 – choose option 2 and follow the instructions. You will need your card and eight digit account number.

How do I find out when someone has put money on my card?
You can set up a text alert for your mobile phone to ensure you receive a text when someone pays money onto your account (10p per text is charged to your online account). Alternatively you can view your account balance online or contact customer services on 0844 412 1717.

How do I get a current balance for my credEcardplus?
You can check the balance on your card:

  • Online at www.credecard.com
  • By setting up a text alert to your mobile phone (10p/ text is charged to your online account). If you haven’t set up regular text alerts, but want an occasional balance update, as long as you have registered your mobile phone on our website, you can receive a balance by texting the word BALANCE to 07770 500 500.
  • At an ATM (10p per request is charged to your online account).
  • Call 0844 412 1717 and select option 1. You will need your card and eight digit account number.

Can I pay my utility bills using my credEcardplus e-money account?
If your utility provider accepts standing orders then you can set these up to make regular payments from your e-money account, where you control the amount of money to be sent to the supplier for each payment.

You cannot set up Direct Debits on this account.

How can I withdraw cash from my credEcardplus account?
You can get cash from an ATM using your credEcardplus card and PIN. We will charge you 75p for each withdrawal. ATM operators may add an extra fee for each withdrawal.
You can also get cashback at most supermarkets with your regular shopping. There is no charge for a cashback withdrawal.

Where can I use my credEcardplus card?
You can use your credEcardplus card at any of nine million outlets worldwide which display the Visa Acceptance Mark.

How can I get help using my account or card?
You can get help with credEcardplus using the “help” tab once you have logged into your online account. If that doesn’t answer your question, you can email us at customerservices@credEcard.com or call 0844 412 1717 between 8.30am and 6.00pm Monday to Friday and between 8.30am and 5.00pm Saturday.

I’ve lost my card, what do I do?
Please log onto your online account, go to ‘my cards’ and click the ‘lost’ button. Alternatively call our lost and stolen number 01756 693 275 and we can arrange for a new card to be sent to you. There is a £5.00 charge for reissuing the card.
